Working Out

When it comes to losing weight the first things you hear are, “eat healthy and exercise”.

Pretty easy right? For some it’s just the opposite. I spend a ton of time talking about healthy eating and sharing fun, creative, and healthy recipes that I thought I would touch on exercise. It’s funny because the eating healthy part was harder for me when I started than the exercise. I had always been active. I was probably one of the only 5’2″ 265 pound girls around that could run a mile, dance for hours, and clean my house like a 12 team maid service. Granted I was winded and sweaty….and huffing but I was active. So for those of you out there who find the eating easy, then this post is for you! I’m going to run down the most popular/trendy workouts that are out right now, give you a synopsis of each, and share what my fave workout routines are as well as websites that I find incredibly helpful in the training department. So, what are my personal forms of working out/training?! I’ll tell ya!

-Running: Nothing better than me, my iPhone, and a StarTrac Treadmill


-Kickboxing: High intensity cardio! 50 minutes every Sunday and I burn anywhere between 420 cals to 650 depending on how intense Lea gets.

-Spin: Not my fave, but when I make it on time I do it. Guaranteed calorie burn, great for cardio endurance training.

-Fit and Firm by The Gym Coach: My newest tool! Great as a filler for me. Hard core cardio mixed with circuit training. From arms to ab’s, it has it all!

    It’s been great connecting with you on Twitter (I’m @NU_FiT there) and enjoying your blog, too!

    I agree with you that there’s little room for excuses…there’s a plethora of outlets to chose from. As a Certified Personal Trainer, I remind my clients that the strength training we do together is an important piece of the puzzle. Finding an activity you truly enjoy is the best way to incorporate fitness into you’re healthy lifestyle!

    As a Nutritional Consultant, I feel strongly that you must also enjoy the foods you eat, as well. The biggest hurdle (haha ~ punny 😉 is reducing the amount of processed foods. From there, you’re pallet will actually change for the better, and you’ll actually enjoy fresh whole foods!

    By the way, my favorite ways to get my fitness on are: competitive tennis, intense weight training sessions, tire throwing, and jumping rope!
