Today is Zachary’s first FULL DAY of Pre-K!

He will be in school 5 days a week from 9am-3pm this will be the longest amount of time I’ve been away from him with the exception of a few overnight trips. I have been with him every single day this Summer, everyday since June 17th, and I have been counting down the days anxiously awaiting my first day of “freedom”. I’m such an OCD Type A personality that through out the Summer I’ve been compiling a list of promises, promises to myself. I figure with all of this “freedom” I would have no excuse to accomplish some major goals, goals that I have had for a while that always seemed to get swept under the rug or I’m able to follow along with said pla/promise/goal and then seem to fall off once life or my job “get’s in the way”…..another excuse. But with Zac being in the absolute best care with his most favorite teacher Ms.Eddy said promises should be carried out fairly easily and I have been planning all Sumer for them to take effect as of today 8/28/12. So I give to you my promises for August 2012-Dec31st 2012……

Promises I made to myself:

1)  Workout 4 days a week for 45 minutes minimum (gym, bike, walk, run whatever)

2)  Drink 100 ounces of water a day

3)  Take supplements EVERYDAY

4)  Go to bed by 11 pm on week nights (even if work isn’t finished)

5)  Blog (personal) 3 to 4 days a week

6)  Start Vlogging (even quick posts)

7)  Do 1 thing that benefits ME everyday that’s not work related

8)  Spend 1 hour tech free everyday

9)  Train 1 day a week with trainer every other week

10)            Slow down

11)            Learn to say NO. I can’ t do everything and that’s OK

12)            Start reading again

13)            Incorporate heavier weights into my workouts

14)            Lose 30 pounds by Thanksgiving

15)            No week day booze

16)            Eat more raw veggies

17)            Experiment with recipes more often

18)            Build my brand

19)            Stop talking/thinking negatively about myself

20)            Be the best wife, mom, friend I can be

For those of you who are Mom’s and are also experiencing a little bit of “freedom” I encourage you to make a list too. Just writing these promises down and reading them made me feel better. It made me feel like I had a purpose and it made me realize that I’ll use my time in a way that will not only benefit me but make me a better mom for the time I will be with Zac, and a better more relaxed wife when I’m with my husband. If we don’t take care of ourselves first then we really aren’t worth much because let’s face it….if YOU don’t take care of YOU who will?

So Happy 1st Day of School to all of my teacher friends and family and to all of you Mom’s Happy 1st Day of the “New You”!

Healthy Wishes, T

  • This is a great idea! I think I like the idea of a promise you make to yourself better than a goal…may be harder to break?! Good luck with meeting all your promises! I think it’s time I used you as inspiration and made my own list of promises!!

  • Last year was my first time having that large chunk of time in 12 years and I have to say that although I did start my blog and get to the gym regularly, i didn’t accomplish a whole lot! Part of it was allowing myself to chillax after 12 years of sheer chaos, but part was my lack of time management skills with all my new found time!! This year I hope to be better..maybe I’ll try your list approach. Enjoy your free full days! I sang a song every time I put the last kid on the bus last year and sat down with my coffee “It’s the most wonderful time of the day”…
