Fit Family, New Work, and BBQ Ribs

We have been so busy lately…. if this an indication of what Summer has in store then I’m gonna need about 3 more calendars, lot’s of wine, and a clone.

As I told you the last time I posted I had a 5k coming up, which was last Saturday 5/18/13, and Ryan and Zac were going to come along and be my cheering section. Well my cheering section ended up PARTICIPATING!!

IMG_1097That’s right my guys joined me for the race! This was my 5 th 5k to complete, my hubby’s first ever and Zac’s too. We took turns pushing him in the stroller and it ended up being a hill course…. now that’s a workout. Our time as we crossed the finish was 41 minutes! I was super impressed with that considering we don’t have a jogging stroller. My hubby enjoyed it so much that I think he’s going to run Gaspee Days on June 8th with me! Hooray for Family Fitness!

In addition to running and training for upcoming races my work load has been HEAVY, but I’m loving it. I’m also so excited to announce my partnership with Black Ink Virtual Assistance!! I have partnered up with Melissa and Bob Black as a Social Media Specialist and Virtual Assistant. I will also be writing a weekly Social Media article for their newsletter which you can sign up to receive and read my first article here:  I’m super excited about yet another tier being added to my growing brand and business.

With all of this running, training,working, and growing I haven’t had much time to cook so I decided to whip out the crock pot. I LOVE the crock pot and I think it’s perfect to use year around especially for BBQ Ribs. I mean how Summer can you get?! You’re going to love how simple this recipe is too, check it out.

Girl Gone Healthy Crock Pot BBQ Ribs:



1 pack of ribs, trim fat off of ribs or have the butcher do it for you

1 large bottle of Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce

1 package of Grill Mates seasoning

2 tablespoons worchestire sauce (spelling you know what I’m talking about 😉 )


Cut your ribs to fit into the crock pot, I cut mine into 3 nice sized sections, and set aside. In a large bowl combine all of the other ingredients together and mix well. You may need to add a little water as you don’t want the mixture to be to thick, it should pour easily. Place one section of ribs into the bottom of the crock pot, pour enough sauce over the first layer until covered. Place a nother layer of ribs over the first and pour sauce over second layer. Continue to layer ribs and sauce until used up. Give the crock pot a little shake to settle everything in, and turn crock pot to low and allow ribs to cook for 4 to 6 hours or until done. The meat should be falling off the bones……sooooooo YUMMY!
