ZICO: Are You Naturally Powered?

The lovely people at ZICO caught wind that I had never tried coconut water before so they packed up a little goodie box so that I could feel “naturally powered”.

Cute right? Little tetra pak bottles ( 3 natural flavored and 1 large chocolate flavored) an adorable back pack and my all time favorite thing to receive from brands/companies a handwritten note!

Before I even tried the water I wanted to do a little reading on coconut water and it’s benefits. So for those of you who are also un-coconut educated here are the deets….for those who are seasoned coco drinkers you may scroll on :).

ZICO contains the five electrolytes that support your body with what it needs to stay hydrated and perform at your best. One ZICO has more potassium than a banana – 15 times more than most sports drinks – to prevent cramping. Drink ZICO before or during a workout for the natural energy you need for optimal performance. After a workout, ZICO replenishes and re-hydrates you to aide recovery.

PACKED WITH POTASSIUM

As much potassium as a banana.

5 ELECTROLYTES

sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium, phosphorus

THE ULTIMATE HYDRATION DRINK

supports rapid hydration

ALL NATURAL

Coconut water has been used as an intravenous fluid and saved lives

Sounds pretty amazing right? My next thought was “how is going to taste”? So I popped open the natural flavor and took a big swig……and I have to say I wasn’t a fan…..I know I know that’s bad but I want to be honest. So I decided to take on the chocolate….popped it open….swig…and….LOVE!!!!!! It was such a nice flavor! I knew I could totally drink it alone, but I felt that it would be AWESOME as a smoothie base!

Thus the ZICO Chocolate Coffee Smoothie was born!

-80z cold coffee

-4oz Chocolate ZICO

-2 splenda

-1 scoop vanilla protein powder

-ice

Blend everything together until frothy, pour and enjoy! This was a great recovery drink and it allowed me to get my morning coffee in too!

I have since tried the Natural flavor in fruit smoothies and it isn’t bad but I’m still not a fan of drinking it straight up.

Tell me, do you drink coconut water? If so, how do you drink it? Have recipes you’d like to share……please do!!

I bought some Zico and it sat in the fridge – wish I thought of using in a shake/smoothie.

I LOVE the chocolate ZICO!! And I’m with you: I’m not a fan of the natural flavor. But it’s a good base for fruit smoothies. Coconut water has so many great benefits, but it’s kind of expensive so I don’t buy it as much as I’d like. Same with kombucha. Your chocolate coffee smoothie sounds delish!

I agree with your take on the natural flavored coconut water…not a fan. The 1st time I tried it, I was honestly wondering what all the hype was about. I will have to try the chocolate in my morning shake too! Thank for the idea!!
