Movement

No matter what size you are or how hard you work, you’re never pleased. Even some of the most beautiful women in the world most likely stand in front of the mirror and find a few things “wrong”. Truth is nothing is really wrong it’s all in our minds. The way we perceive ourselves is 9 times out of 10 completely different than how others perceive us.

I know my last post was in this same direction but I’ve really been thinking about this whole body image/self perception thing. I just stood in the bathroom with the hubby and said “if I didn’t have this flabby belly crap I’d love me”. Perfect example right there….why shouldn’t I love me anyway? I lost 115 pounds in 1 year and kept it off, sure the scale has gone back up but I’m still in a size 12 and a medium shirt so that scale going up is from the muscle I’m building and working hard to do it. I should also love me because my body has given life to a beautiful, amazing, intelligent 3 year old little boy and that in itself is worthy of pride and love.

Yet  I still can’t get it right, but that’s going to change. I’m going to embrace my “flaws” and learn to make them work. Who cares that I’m not the thinnest girl on staff at the Y or Virtual, or out of our circle of friends, or my family- I have other beautiful qualities and thats whats important. The other day on Twitter I read “thin isn’t neccessairly healthy”  and you know what “thin is neccessarily beautiful either!”

So here’s what we are going to do, I Challenge you to write down something BEAUTIFUL about yourself, whether it be physical or a personality trait, and take a picture of yourself holding that statement or statements. I want you to post that picture on Twitter or Facebook and tell me why you chose that.

I then want you to find atleast 1 person a day and tell them something that you think is awesome about them.

We are going to start a beautiful self loving movement, and I believe in turn a lot of us will push out of our plateaus or actually begin the journeys we’ve been putting off. I’m hoping to find some amazing “beauty” companies to support us and even do some giveaways to assist us in feeling Beautiful Inside and Out!

  4. What a lovely and wonderful idea! I will letcha know when I post. Congrats on how far you’ve come and you are SPOT ON about how there’s more to beauty than body shape/size!

  5. I think this is a great thing for so many people to do! We are so focused on our “flaws” that we forget about what makes us wonderful. I’m going to share this on my blog!

  6. Love this. I will take a picture later, once I’m back from the gym/swimming. A) I will feel GREAT after my workout, and B) I will actually look presentable enough to actually love the person in the mirror! Right now bed head and jammies aren’t quite cutting it. 🙂
