It’s Not A Diet

As I continue to meet people and share my weight loss story I hear the same question every single time….”what diet did you use?”

That’s just it I didn’t use any diet, and that’s because diets don’t work….LIFE STYLE CHANGE is what works. I’ve done Weight Watchers, South beach, Atkins, Cabbage Soup, Apple Cider Vinegar….you name it I’ve tried it. But this time I simply chose to learn how to make better choices, read labels, shop differently, learn to substitute ingredients when cooking/baking, get active and drink water, cut out soda, limit sugar and white flour, watch my portions etc….so if all of that falls under the umbrella of a diet then I’ll call it the Girl Gone Healthy sure fire way to lose that flab diet. (That’s now trade marked so back off 😉 ) I’m not knocking things like Weight Watcher’s, Jenny Craig, South Beach etc…I’m just telling you that I tried them all lost a few pounds and gained back way more than I lost. What worked for me personally was finally being fed up with my body and how it was holding me back from doing things I wanted to do, wearing clothes I wanted to wear, shop in stores I was once only able to look into or purchase socks and that’s it.

I encourage you all to do what personally works for YOU, and if you’d like to read more about my story visit: http://girlgonehealthy.com/?page_id=2

Now let’s talk meatballs!!!! This dish was really easy and tasty, so grab a glass of Merlot and settle in!

Whole Wheat Spaghetti and Spicy Italian Meatballs

-2 lbs lean ground beef ( I used 93/7)

-1 large white onion diced fine

-1 tablespoon minced garlic

-1/4 cup parmesan cheese (I always use the Kraft “powder” parmesan cheese, I call it stinky cheese)

-pinch of salt

Combine all of this in a large bowl and using your hands work it all together until combined well and sticking. Spoon meat mixture into your hands and roll into nice sized balls, place on a greased baking sheet and in pre heated 350 oven. Allow balls to bake for 35 minutes or until done in the middle.

Sauce-

-1 28 oz can tomato sauce

-1 15 oz can diced tomato-drained (Italian flavored is the best)

-2 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil

-2 Plum tomatoes diced

-1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

In a sauce pan combine all ingredients and stir until bubbling, remove from heat and set aside.

Cook your whole wheat past according to box or your liking. While pasta is boiling combine sauce and meat balls, making sure sauce is coating meat balls. Once pasta is done top with meat balls and enjoy!

THANK YOU for underscoring the importance of permanent lifestyle changes as a way to lose weight and keep it off. There are plenty of diets that work, but unless you can do them forever, the results will just be short-term. Congrats on losing the weight in a way that will keep rewarding you for years to come!
