I’m so excited about this particular Monday because today marks 1 month that I have been working with The Petteruti Center (you can read more details here: The Next Phase) ! It has been such a wonderful experience so far and I’m so thankful to have found them. Between the pharmalogical therapy that Dr.Petteruti has prescribed and the support of the Wellness Center I have lost 15 pounds in the 1 month I have been a patient. I have 35 pounds to go until I reach the goal weight I wanted to reach when I initially began my journey in 2008!!!
In fact the last time I put these jeans on was 6/22/13 and I needed Spanx for them to fit right. The next best thing to the scale showing lower numbers is the feeling you get when your clothes are to BIG!
As I have mentioned before, The Petteruti Center treats each patient on a level that is specific to their needs. They don’t have a calories in calories out approach nor do they chock you full of pills and tell you to eat 500 calories or less per day. They listen to what you have to say and what has worked and has not worked in the past. Dr. Petteruti runs tests on a hormonal level, a chemical level, and he treats the source, and it works!
In fact at my last visit with my Wellness Counselor, Shannon, we chatted about making food choices when dining out, on special occasions/Holidays etc. I love that being a patient entitles you to having a Wellness Counselor and that each week a new topic is discussed. These are real life topics and as we all know making good food choices when dining out or at family gatherings isn’t always easy.
Shannon suggested that when dining out to look at the menu before arriving at the restaurant so that I would know what I would like to order and would stick with that choice. For me that’s sounds great as I’m a “planner” so this is a tip I know I can use. Secondly she suggested refusing bread, chips, or anything that’s complimentary and brought to the table before the meal.
I usually just sit and stare at the bread or chips and end up nibbling a small bite when all along I should’ve just said no thank you when they are offered. Also if you’re ordering a cocktail order a glass of water along with it.
When it comes to family gatherings offer to make and bring something YOU CAN EAT! This way you know you’ll be able to enjoy sitting down with everyone else. I have always followed this advice and tend to bring a main or side dish along with a dessert that I can enjoy….. it works!
I’m looking forward to seeing what results I get with in the next 30 days and I urge anyone in the Rhode Island area to contact The Petteruti Center. Please feel free to mention my name or that you heard about them through Girl Gone Healthy, I don’t mind at all.
Healthy Wishes, T
